Ode to Puddy

Although I said that I would NOT neglect this blog, I have been reminded that I am, indeed, neglecting it. DAMN you Facebook! Plus, my camera is not uploading my photos for some reason which has not only eaten up a large chunk of my computer time, but has also made me think "Well geez, why update when I don't have the latest photos?"
Anywhoo, our poor cat was recently diagnosed with pancreatitis (my medical transcrbing friend assured me that I spelled that right!) Imagine that! He didn't eat for about a month and lost about 3 pounds. That would be a great percentage if he were on Biggest Loser, wouldn't it? So, the vet gave Ken instructions on how to basically force feed the poor Puddy and give Puddy IV fluids. At first we didn't think it was going to work and the only other alternative was really expensive surgery and since we don't really know how old Puddy is and we don't currently have a money tree in the backyard, that was not really an option. I was terrified that we would have to put him down. REALLY terrified. I'd never had a cat before and I can only assume that Puddy is not normal because he is loving and cuddly and comes when you call him and lets Mark swat him and whatnot without a hiss. He is so sweet and I love him so putting him down was just unthinkable.
Luckily, the treatments seem to be working just fine. We think Ken may have really overloaded him with fluids and such (per the vet's orders) on the first treatment and Puddy got it all OUT (if ya know what I mean? If you don't know what I mean, don't ask - really). But now Puddy is eating and using the litter box and back to his play-swatting old self. I love this cat.
